Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra

HEALTH CARE Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra provides health facilities through its hospitals, dispensaries, Village Health Workers and free medical camps.

1.  Hospital- We are running a hospital at Lohardaga (Jharkhand). Now, it is converted into an eye hospital named “Birsa Netralaya”, conducting cataract operations at regular interval. Birsa Netralaya does more than 500 eye surgeries every year. This hospital is with all basic amenities works as a referral hospital.

2. Dispensaries-  Medical dispensaries are working at remote tribal villages with one Village Health Workers providing medical facility to the needy people.  Eight such dispensaries are presently serving. Village Health Workers provides medical first aid to villagers where the doctors are not immediately available. VHW is a health care facilitator in the village.

3. Sub-Medical Centers- Medical assistance to those in needs is provided through these health clinics. One fulltime health worker covers ten villages & provides free medical assistance to the needy. He is instrumental in providing basic health education to the villagers.

4- Free Medical Camps- Monthly free medical camps are conducted in villages by Nagar committees of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Bokaro. Teams of volunteers – doctors, workers and members visit the patients at remote villages. In remote & far distant places where medical facilities are not available neither the villagers can afford the cost of treatment, Free Medical Camps are organized there. Nearly 40 such camps are  arranged during the year & approx 20,000 people get free treatment with free medicine.
